The village and the town that embrace one another

At a glance

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR SURROUNDINGS

Is Hohenwart ideal for an active holiday?

Yes! At Hohenwart, everything is set for an active and sporty holiday. Our location in the peaceful mountain village of Schenna above the spa town of Meran makes us the perfect starting point for numerous hikes, bike tours and excursions between the valley, alpine pastures and high alpine terrain. On rainy days or when you feel like enjoying a more relaxed “hotel day”, a range of fitness facilities and guided activity sessions are available.

Is hiking easily accessible from Hotel Hohenwart?

That is one of our guests’ most popular activities! Right in Schenna, you will find the Waalweg and the apple and wine trail. You can hike to Meran and walk the famous Tappeinerweg. Those who enjoy heading to higher altitudes will find what they are looking for on the Taser Höhenweg, the Hirzer alpine pasture trail, the Laugen or Mutspitze. Not to mention the many kilometres of hiking trails in the nearby Meran 2000 hiking area. The sunrise hike to the Kleiner Ifinger is a true insider tip. If you wish, you can also join one of our guided hikes.

Is the hotel suitable for a cycling holiday?

Yes - around Schenna, you will find suitable routes for every type of cyclist. Road cyclists enjoy the paved valley cycle paths, while (e-)mountain bikers love the well-maintained forest roads on Meran 2000 or the trails in the Texelgruppe nature park. There are also many family-friendly and beginner routes nearby. At Hohenwart, you can rent bikes, helmets and maps or join a guided bike tour.

Which golf courses are accessible from Schenna?

The nearest golf course is the 9-hole course in Lana, where we can offer you special conditions. As a partner of Golf in South Tyrol you also receive a 20% discount on the green fee at all partner courses. The golf courses in South Tyrol are wonderfully diverse - each one impresses with unique challenges, spectacular views and excellent service. We are happy to assist you in planning your golf holiday.

Is Hohenwart a yoga hotel?

If you are passionate about yoga, you can pursue your practice undisturbed during your stay at Hohenwart - whether outdoors on the yoga platform or indoors in the light-filled fitness room. What could be more beautiful than greeting the rising sun with a sun salutation in our Mediterranean garden?
If you wish, you can join guided sessions in yoga, Pilates, aquagym or fascia training, or work out independently in the fitness room or the outdoor calisthenics park.

What sights are Schenna and Meran known for?

The most well-known attraction in our village is Schenna Castle. A walk through the village centre, along the Waalweg or to the farm shops with direct sales is always worthwhile. The ascent with the Taser cable car opens up the Schenna hiking area. In nearby Meran, the arcades and old town, the Tappeinerweg and the well-kept promenades await, as well as the award-winning botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, the racecourse with regular events, and the South Tyrol Festival Meran, formerly the Meran Music Weeks, featuring high-calibre performances.
