Who would have thought that winter could be so warming?
Winter is the shortest season at Hohenwart, but one of special intensity. With the start of the Advent and Christmas season, Schenna and Merano shine in festive splendor. The Merano 2000 ski resort and the surrounding mountains attract active vacationers. And we are the perfect place to warm up at the end of the day. After the holidays, tranquility returns: from mid-January to mid-March, we take a break and will be back just in time for the start of spring.
Mountains & Skiing
Just a few minutes from Hohenwart, you'll find Merano 2000, the family-friendly ski and hiking area for those who prefer simplicity. Skiing and snowboarding on 40 km of slopes, tobogganing, hiking on groomed paths, snowshoeing in deep snow, cross-country skiing, and ski touring are all possible just a stone's throw from each other. There are even special experiences like paragliding and the longest rail toboggan run in Italy. With plenty of sunshine, views over the valley, and a great atmosphere at the mountain huts, you can enjoy a winter that’s not overwhelming.

Advent & Christmas
With the start of the Advent season, a special atmosphere fills the Merano area. The famous Merano Christmas Market opens, and there are smaller traditional markets in the surrounding villages. The streets are decorated with sparkling lights, festive music fills the air, and the scent of traditional Christmas pastries wafts through the streets. For several years now, the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle have also opened their doors in winter and enchant visitors with the magical Lumagica light world.

Christmas and New Year's Eve are special moments at Hohenwart. We take time for reflective hours, genuine closeness, and festive enjoyment.
